Central Florida

These are just some tiny oil sketches I've done trying to record my memories of scenes we've passed while driving around. We went tubing on the Ichetucknee river a couple of days ago and drove out to a neat little hamlet along the gulf marshes. Today we're packing for our beach week. We go to Amelia Island Saturday morning.

Do you do these (wonderful) sketches in a plain old sketchbook?

Do you have a problem with the pages sticking to one another???

Hi Marian -
No, I am doing them on "canvas textured" paper. Two per page. I let them dry and then will cut them out most likely and glue them into my sketchbook with notes and next to my watercolor or pen sketches. I got this idea from Sherie Levine while in NYC. She had some wonderful little "vignettes," as she called them, from Venice.

I really love all of these quick little sketches and the ones below too. The pink/red border looks great...I'd say suitable for framing. ;)))

These are marvelous-- I'm very taken with the loose red outline from underneath, and the vignettes that result in painting outside the box. Love the sultry colors. Feel like I'm on the road, too.
