Anything But Pedestrian

12x18 oil on panel

To celebrate my city I finished up a painting I started awhile ago. This is along Congress Ave. downtown Austin. The sunlight hitting this woman walking with the yellow scarf over her salwar (?) just stood out so beautifully.
This photo doesn't do justice to the painting. My camera doesn't pick up yellows well. So its a little washed out - esp. the ground, which is warmer than it looks here. And her scarf is much more vibrant than this. Think lemon yellow!

Nice job, Robin. I'm glad you were not directed impacted by the idiot's plane ride into the IRS facility. This is a great tribute to your vibrant community.

BTW, I don't know if you try to edit your photos in Photoshop before posting, but you can really control your colors by using the "Selective Color" option. With it you can adjust the individual colors without having affecting the other colors. Email me if you want more specifics on using Selective Color. don@donmichaeljr.com

Hi Don -
I do use Photoshop but haven't tried selective color. I will work with that and see if I can't improve my images. THANKS!

Nothing pedestrian about how you've executed this masterpiece. A modern impressionist portraying modern city life through a dream-like detail-oriented eye.
