Park Shade - WIP

18x18 oil on canvas

I've been struggling this week and I'm not sure I like this either. I definitely don't like the blue in the foreground. How did that get there?
When I sat this and the other one (below) aside next to another painting I did this week, there is an interesting, and previously unnoticed theme going on in my work from this past week. Check my blog tomorrow to see what I mean - and see our monthly challenge group pieces too!

Nice tonal ranges in both pieces as well as design and composition in my opinion.

Well, I like the blue dappled shade! Don't know why you don't! I like both these paintings. Very appealing scenes.

The blue is fine-this one works.

Robyn, check out an artist called Morgan Samuel Price, she does alot of paintings like this. She is the Queen of Green! Anyway I took some live online classes with her and love her style. She has two books Oil Painting From a Basic Pallet and Turn On The Light. You can get the first one on Amazon pretty cheap used, but Turn on the
Light is her latest and you have to order from her website. Art Academy Live has some snippets of hers that you can download for a nominal fee, I joined a long time ago. But all hers are good, not crazy about the other artists. Just thought I would mention her, I think you would like her. BTW I love these park scenes.

I quite like what you've done. I rather think you've developed a good style for yourself, and the blue is nice. Just stick with it....You're doing great.

I love this one and the park one below! The shadows and outdoor scenes are great "slice of life" perspectives. Both works really appeal strongly to me! Don't change it too much more... :)
