Little Girl and Cowboy on Horse

6x6, oil on clayboard - sold
This little girl was watching a trick roping cowboy at the Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop where I spent Thanksgiving with my family. It was a perfect day. Late afternoon, when the sun was getting at that fabulous angle for long rich shadows and golden light, this cowboy rode in to the delight of the children, and adults too. The cowboy, though not depicted here, is Burt Hairgrove of Timpson, Tx and his horse is Trouble. The little girl was so sweet with her look of adoration, riot of blonde curls and pretty dress. Our Thanskgiving was untraditional, but we loved it. We spent hours outside listening to a cowboy band around a fire pit, the kids played with stick horses, a teepee, playscapes, etc. Days like this remind me how much I love Texas. I bet this little girl does too.
